An ecommerce drone brand was shipping 4K gimbal units in foam-cradled boxes. Returns for gimbal drift and lens misalignment were running at 6% of units, and every foam insert added 40 g of plastic-derived material to the package.

The Solution: One tray, every component locked in place
The fix was a single molded pulp tray with formed pockets for the body, gimbal, battery, and two lenses. Deep-wall ribs stiffened the tray walls, and a top lid pressed components into their cradles:
1. Component-locking pockets Each part sits in a pocket sized to its own silhouette, so nothing slides on impact.
2. Ribbed deep walls Wall ribs add column strength, letting the tray stack in cartons without crushing the payload.
3. Drop-tested to ISTA 3A The tray passed ISTA 3A transit simulation, the same protocol used for high-value electronics.
The Result: Calibration survives the courier
Gimbal-drift returns fell from 6% to 0.8% over the first quarter, and the brand cut 40 g of foam per unit. Distributors now mention the molded tray in their unboxing videos, and the packaging is curbside recyclable.
